Friends of the Bill of Rights

So the Wicked Witch of Waco, the Injustice-Fuehrer Herself, sent her storm troopers to kidnap the little Cuban boy and returned him to totalitarian Communism, spitting on his mother's watery grave in the process. What a sad time for our country. Though we have very often been totally and completely ashamed of this administration, this is one of the few episodes we have been totally and completely ashamed of our entire government.
The Wicked Witch's corrupt Boss can now add kidnapping and child abuse to his impressive resume of lying under oath, perjury, obstruction of justice, assault, rape (as well as drug-running and murder, by some accounts?), and we've probably only scratched the surface!
We should have compromised by sending her and her corrupt Boss to Cuba, their spiritual homeland, and kept Elian here in at least a semblance of Freedom.

Constitution

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." --10th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States

A simple exercise would be to read Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution. Then, compare that with a list of Federal Government agencies, departments and programs for which Congress appropriated your tax dollars. See if you can find authority for the mission or function of those agencies, departments and programs in the powers expressly delegated in the Constitution to Congress. We think you will be amazed at the obvious conclusion--a great deal of the functions and activities for which Congress expropriates your tax dollars are not authorized by the Constitution.

Thank you for visiting our Web site, and our hope is that we can help provide a thought-provoking experience to all who view these pages.

Government cartoons.

A look at what the Bill of Rights says--and what it actually means* today.
*As an example of the lunacy that appears to reign supreme across the land, Congress has in effect declared rape to be interstate commerce. Well, rape may be a lot of things (all of them bad), but interstate commerce ain't one of 'em! We understand that our imperious, infallible Supreme Court is now considering a case which will decide whether this rape of the Constitution will be allowed to stand.
---Some good news on this front. For a change the Supreme Court exhibited some uncommon good sense and decreed that rape is NOT, in fact, "commerce among the states." (You'd sort of have to be lying across state lines at the time of the rape.)

OBSERVATIONS

March 9, 2005 -- So Dan Blather says his good-byes tonight. Well, cry me a river. We have not watched See-B.S. News in decades.

Why does anyone pay any attention whatsoever to any utterance of Comrade Kennedy? That senile old fool, the Hero of Chappaquiddick, has not one iota of credibility.

Sorry, Gen. Clark, but this country was not founded on "progressive" taxation. As you seem to have confused our Founders with Karl Marx, it would appear that you attended one or more government schools.

So how come Mr. Soros is able to spend millions of his ill-gotten gains on political activities for the far-Left? We thought the purpose of the far-Left-inspired "campaign finance reform" was to take money out of politics. We guess limiting money in politics does not apply when a far-Left idiot is involved. Despite what our fatuous Supreme Court says, the whole thing (limiting the amount of political speech which can be purchased) is blatantly and flagrantly unconstitutional. What part of "NO LAW" do they not get?

We had thought that perhaps Bill Clinton was the Manchurian Candidate. (We seem to remember something about his taking a mid-winter "vacation" to sunny and balmy Moscow a number of years, or decades, ago. Who paid for that? And after he transferred American nuclear technology to the People's (???) Republic of China in return for illegal campaign contributions, well......) However, after hearing about Comrade Kerry's career, we are now wondering if perhaps HE is the Manchurian Candidate. (We seem to recall reading that he has been honored by the Hanoi Communists, and we don't mean Jane, for his invaluable contribution to their victory.) Perhaps BOTH are Manchurian Candidates.

Neal Boortz has it right: Just which Constitution did George W. Bush take an oath to uphold and defend? Apparently it was not ours. What part of "NO LAW" do HE, Comrade Kerry, and Senator McCain not get? Both the Swift Boat Veterans AND the Far-Left idiots such as George Soros have the right to raise and spend money to purchase political speech. And you have the right contribute to the efforts of either.

Americans for Fair Taxation
Let's get behind this and push for the passage of H.R. 25!

1st Amendment

The Second Amendment does not extend an individual right to keep and bear arms.

More of your tax dollars at work!

Let's hope the Republicans have the b---s to block the Socialists--er, Democrats, from extending the phony ban on "assault" weapons. Based on the Republicans' record over the past three years, let's not hold our breath.
UPDATE - Apparently the age of miracles really is not over. We really did not think the center would hold.

On the subject of education: We hope you saw John Stossel's Give Me A Break segment on ABC's 20/20 of Friday, November 12, 1999. If you did not see it, try to get a tape--either from a friend or from ABC if it is available (try http://abcnews.go.com). It's a devastating commentary on government control of education and gives the lie to the politically-correct line that smaller class sizes and more money will solve all problems. (Both have already been tried--smaller classes and more money.)
We need John Stossel for President!

Stossel in the Classroom

If you did not see John Stossel's special about Freedom of Speech (You Can't SAY That!) on ABC on Thursday, March 23, 2000, we urge you to get a video copy of this outstanding program! And yes--any court decree, any law, any bureaucracy-promulgated rule or regulation, or an episode of JAG notwithstanding--the copy of the Constitution we have in our office contains no exceptions in the First Amendment.

About this RingJoin this Ring

Many years ago, men of strong mind, strong will and strong character used to meet in The Green Dragon Tavern.  Coming together secretly, and often late at night, they met upstairs in the Long Room.  Here . . . they planned the destiny of our country, and plotted the course of freedom which we now sail.

Sorry about this, folks, but our emails to the ringmaster of the Green Dragon Tavern Web ring came back as "undeliverable." We don't know why anyone would start a Web ring with an incorrect email address for the ringmaster. Their idea is great, but the execution of the idea apparently leaves a bit to be desired.

Fan Mail for the Troops Campaign

While we do not support some of the policies of the Department of Defense, as well as some policies of this administration (such as allowing Comrade Kennedy to write the education bill), we DO support the men and women who put their lives on the line each day to defend our country. In this vein, we urge everyone to support the Fan Mail for the Troops campaign.
We know of one friend of liberty who participates in that campaign (using "The Quiz") who tells us that the young military guys and gals greatly appreciate the supportive mail they receive. Some time ago we had email contact with one webmaster who said his first exposure to libertarian ideals was while stationed at Camp Lejeune with the U.S. Marine Corps.

The summer mailing has been completed, and the next mail campaign will be for Christmas. There is a late-November deadline, so don't delay. Click here!
